MVP: Herb Sardine & Peach Burrata Salad Edition

"You don't have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.”
-Zig Ziglar

I was never particularly good at sports. Let’s take soccer for example, I could contribute to moving the ball on the pitch, maybe had some tricks & speed, but what I had, was effort. I’d show up and I’d try.

The title of this article has MVP in it. I don’t mean Most Valuable Player (which I never was in soccer), but instead, Minimum Viable Product, which Eric Ries refers to as “the version of a new product which allows a team to collect the maximum amount of validated learning about customers with the least effort”. Re-introducing MVP to my mind, got me thinking, how often do I and others not show up, share, or try because we are worried about not being good enough? How frequently, does fear of failure hold us back?

What if we can take the idea of MVP and apply it to our personal growth? Instead of putting out products, we’re putting in effort.
- We’re trying the new skill without fear of failing but with the hope of learning.
- We share a thought without fear of sounding silly, but excitement to connect and learn with others.
- We move from noticing our faults as what keeps us from perfection, but instead, as the lessons to guide us forward.

So whether you’re an athlete, an entrepreneur, or even a day-to-day person curious about potential, take a chance. Put something, anything, out into the world and in your community. Take a break from fear and see what can happen. Also, try out this Sardine herb & Peach burrata plate. Let’s try things together.

With love,
Kayla

  4. Plate half of each salad and bring the fresh bread to the table to share.
  5. Enjoy. Feel. Notice. Savor.

Notes:
* I specifiy sardines in olive oil because I don't opt for canned fish in any other oil.
* The burrata I use had a nice saltiness to it so I did not add salt to the peach burrata salad, but flavor to your tastes.
